Special Meeting
March 26, 2005
The OABC held a Special Meeting at the Elgin County Beagle Club, Appin Ontario.
The Executive of OABC member clubs were invited, 11 delegates attended with all clubs being represented. There was a large list of agenda items covering events, activities, directory, banquet awards, website and OABC finances. The topics that were highlighted are,
- OABC will be having a conformation show for the Derbies in 2005
- There was a Notice of Motion to change the OABC Annual dues
- OABC will be awarding first place certificates at the Approved Trials
- OABC will be establishing an Awards Donation Fund
- OABC will be participating at the Sportsman Show in Woodstock, June 10 /05
- OABC Lifetime Achievement Criteria was agreed to be
- This award is to recognize and honor individuals of OABC member clubs, that have contributed unselfishly to the betterment of the sport of beagling for a lifetime. They shall have been a club member for 25 years, contributed to more than one club and demonstrated fair play and sportsmanship. They shall have not only participated, but must have also given back to the sport in activities such as judging, held executive position in their respective club, held executive position in the OABC, worked at events and activities of the club , worked at events and activities of the association, ambassador to the sport, and encouraged new membership.
- OABC Lifetime Achievement Selection Criteria was agreed to be
- A selection committee shall be formed, consisting of one delegate from each field trial giving club, with the President of the OABC being the chair. The committee delegates selected shall be individuals that are not eligible for the award. Nominations will be made in writing, in confidence, to the President of the OABC, detailing the nominees qualifications. The selection committee shall then review the nominations and may or may not select from those nominated, but shall not select more than one individual in any award year. The recipient of this award will be determined by unanimous consensus of the selection committee
The meeting was intended to bring everyone up to date with what has been taking place and set some objects for the coming year. There was a lot of positive resolution to the items set out in the agenda, as well, there were constructive thoughts and proposals in the discussions around issues common to all clubs.
It was felt that the meeting was very successful and it was suggested that possibly there could be a meeting scheduled some time in September.
